How the world works

At SOAS University of London the mechanisms by which our world has been shaped throughout history are the foundations of their studies. So, with the aim of promoting the university to prospective students around the world, our brief was to produce an animation based on the brain-spinningly brilliant lecture by SOAS's Dr Angus Lockyer, 'A Short History of the World'.

Dr Lockyer and his team were keen collaborators in the task of visualising the complex relationships that have existed between economy, society, polity and culture since the dawn of civilisation.

We developed a visual style that references art from all over the world, without representing any one region, or culture. And, in doing so, we created a universal narrative that is true of any time or place in history.

Elegantly designed and information-packed: Even if we do say so ourselves, it's a beauty.
