Digital Wildfire

The great uncharted wilderness of the internet can be a dangerous place for children and young people. And, while concerned parents do what they can to protect them from predators, bullies and inappropriate content, the most effective protection comes in the form of education.

Through their research, the University of Oxford's department of computer science identified a need to explain to a young 'tween-age' audience how 'digital footprints' are formed; how a picture or a post, shared in haste, lasts forever online and becomes a permanent part of our digital identity. 

In style, the animation is bright, approachable and graphic, which allows it to carry this weighty issue lightly. Backgrounds recede to bring focus to the characters and the emotions they feel when when the digital self takes on a life of its own and spreads like digital wildfire.
