Scriberia Animator Job Spec – Full-time

Main duties and responsibilities

This role requires a versatile animator with motion design experience. They must have strong visual communication skills and an ability to use visual thinking to tell stories and create compelling animations. They must be fully proficient in After Effects, Animate, Photoshop as well as experienced in Illustrator, Premiere and TVPaint. They should be passionate about creating high quality character animation performance that clearly communicates emotions.

The animator will conceive and develop original ideas for a wide variety of animations in a diverse range of styles. The animator will be involved in every phase of the projects - from idea development, storyboarding, colour schemes, styleframes, animatics and animation. Final outputs are used for internal comms, film, TV and advertising campaigns. The animator will work closely with directors, sound designers and the creative team. It is key to have strong knowledge of the principles and production pipeline for traditional animation.

Key requirements

  • A degree in computer animation or relevant field.

  • Minimum 1 year work experience in animation industry.

  • Experienced with collaborative approaches and working alongside creative directors, producers and other animators.

  • Ability to take direction, give direction and work as part of a team.

  • Good understanding of traditional animation principles and pipeline.

  • Solid software skills in Animate, Illustrator, Photoshop, TVPaint, Premiere and After Effects.

  • Working knowledge of 3D and camera movements - Maya and Cinema 4D.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, collaborate with the team and take feedback in a constructive way.

  • An ability to adapt personal style to match other artists’ and/or existing brands.

  • Self-motivated with great organisational and presentation skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and edit animation based on feedback.

  • Willingness to contribute, convey and share thoughts and knowledge with the team.

  • Ability to create playful and coherent styleframes for film.

  • A friendly and positive attitude

  • Awareness of current trends in motion and animation field.

  • TV industry experience is desirable (Music video, TV series, TV adverts).
